As a person reaches adolescence, they start to question their role in society. During this stage, many teenagers feel that the only way to advance their identity and independence is to break away from those on whom they relied during their childhood and to force themselves headfirst into society. Devoid of any conscience that might make them human, some adolescents become no more than animals, uncontrolled and primitive as they seek their true selves.
